Description

check_ad is a Windows plugin for Nagios which checks the condition of Windows Active Directory server (Health Check).

Requirements

Windows Server 2008 or newer with installed AD part.

Documentation

Usually the plugin runs without parameter.
It checks the following AD domains: services, replications, advertising, fsmocheck, ridmanager, machineaccount, dfsevent.

It can be used on German and English Server OS.

Installation

Preferably the plugin is copied into the script directory where you will store your checks under Windows

When using NSClient ++ an entry in NSC.INI similar to this is generated:

...
[/modules]
NRPEServer=enabled
CheckExternalScripts=enabled

[/settings/NRPE/server] 
allow arguments=true  

[/settings/external scripts/scripts] 
check_ad=scripts\check_ad.exe
...

Examples

Check AD, if everything is all right: C:> check_ad.exe

OK - services: OK. replications: OK. advertising: OK. fsmocheck: OK. ridmanager:

    1. machineaccount: OK.
